Making banners

Front page images
You can use any graphic or photo editing program to make your banners, I use most of the time photo impact it’s a neat program to work with.
Ok let’s start doing some front banners (the one that say this spot for sale.) the first thing I want you to do is hover the mouse over the banner on the left under the calendar and right click it, click properties and look for size or image dimension you will see that the size is 352×70. 352 is the width and 70 length of the banner, so we have to make one of that size. Note right click the banner again and look for location you will notice that after front_page_images you see something like this puerto-rico-news-bottom-ad1.gif this is the name of the file and you must save it like it.

Once you make your banner you must upload that image via ftp (look for your password and user name in the intro letter.)
go to http://yourhometownportal.com/ftp/ in the ftp address type ftp.yourportal.com then your user name and password.
you are in what is call the root directory now look for front_page_images and click the blue folder, now on the top left side look for upload here is where you are going to place the image you save. click the browser and look for your image then click the green check mark, go back to the admin and if the banner has a link to it place it in the #2 spot and click change url if you don’t have a link leave it as is.

You can change all your front banners this way. Remember right click on the banner so you know what size it is and what is the image location and file name.

Making the MIDDLE and BOTTOM ADVERTISEMENT

1-The simple one banner placement. Here the only thing you do is make a banner sized 593×50 then name it as instructed in #1. Then, upload it to the front_page_image. If you have a link to the banner, place it in #2 and click on change url.
2-This freestyle is a little harder to do. You need to place html code in order to have your banner.
a-Make your banner no more than 728 wide, height is up to you. Name it anything you like.
b-Now upload the banner image via ftp to front_page_images.
c-Go back to the root of the ftp (click the up under the name in the top left until you see the Directory Tree: root / box is empty, look for top_ads and click it. Once open, scroll down until you see freestyle.html. Look to your right and select edit. You will see a blank page.
d-This is where you are going to place the code for your banner. Place this code:

Important Note: change ( with in the code. I had to do this so you can see the codes.
e-By doing this you can place more than one banner here.
f-If you have an affiliated banner, just place the code here, but at the end of the code place this code (br) (change the ( to brackets here also) so there will be a space when placing another banner).
g-Once you place this code, look at the top left side of the ftp page and you will see a blue disk click it to save.
h-Now check your portal. You should see your free style banner, and your done!

Making Business Cards

Before you start making cars I suggest you do this first:
Divide your business cards in category like for the front page create a directory call bcfront, then bcfront and bcmiddle Why do you ask? Simple this way you will organize your cards so if you have to edit or delete it will be much faster to locate.
To do this log in to netftp. On the left side under the yellow banner the first box reads new dir, so click it and write bcfront then click the green check mark you have just created a new directory.
Now for the business card: scan the card and resize it to 300px wide × 172pxhigh. I suggest you save them in .gif format since search engine like that format I was told.
Know you log in to the admin and at the right side you see a drop menu click Edit Right Rotating ads right side. At this point I would like you to open a new tap in your browser and log into the netftp.

If you created a directory like bcfront click on it, then upload your card here ok. Now back to the admin in the box you will see some codes delete them and place this code

Note if no link copy the url of your contact page.

If you don’t delete these code the rotation will go and go until it reaches 30 and back to 1, this way just the cards you have will be shown and rotated.
Now all you have to do is copy the code above and place it under the last code keep doing this for all your cards, and do this for the for the other side and the news tower. News business cards are 150px × 350px

Go check your Portal

Placing banner on the right side

First make your banner 125 wide no more, height no problem, uploaded via netftp then go to admin and log on. Once log in scroll down to the left until you see Right Side Ads and click it, you will see a empty box and this is where you are going to place this code (a href=”http://yoururlgoeshere.com” target=”_blank”)(img src=”http://yoururlgoeshere.com/user_images/picturename.gif”)(/a)(br) click submit and your done. Remember br is for a space between your banners.

Note replace (with< and )with>

Placing banner on the bottom
First make your banner 468px wide no more, height no problem, uploaded via netftp then go to admin and log on. Once log in scroll down to the left until you see Bottom Counter & Ads and click it, you will see a empty box and this is where you are going to place this code(center) (a href=”http://yoururlgoeshere.com” target=”_blank”)(img src=”http://yoururlgoeshere.com/user_images/picturename.gif”)(/a)(/center)(br) click submit and your done. Remember br is for a space between your banners.

Note replace (with< and )with>
You can place text and tables here also but use (center) so it will show up nice.
